"There are many factors behind Oregon’s education rankings, but one key factor locally is supporting families and meeting students’ broader needs. When students feel safe, supported, and engaged, they’re better prepared for life after high school. I am incredibly proud that our graduation rates are significantly rising—this speaks to the dedication and hard work of our current school district leaders, educators, and staff. However, there’s still more work to be done to ensure that every student has the skills, opportunities, and support they need to succeed beyond graduation. Moving forward, I would focus on continuing to strengthen partnerships with families and the community, enhancing vocational and technical education opportunities, and ensuring that all students have access to the mental health and wellness resources they need to thrive." - Lorlee Engler
