Safe life
Lorlee Engler, Lebanon Community School District Board Position, Zone 2
Endorsed by Citizens for Lebanon
To learn more:

Oregon’s K-12 education system, in general, has not scored highly in national rankings. What, if anything, would you like to see done locally to better prepare local students for life after high school?
"There are many factors behind Oregon’s education rankings, but one key factor locally is supporting families and meeting students’ broader needs. When students feel safe, supported, and engaged, they’re better prepared for life after high school. I am incredibly proud that our graduation rates are significantly rising—this speaks to the dedication and hard work of our current school district leaders, educators, and staff. However, there’s still more work to be done to ensure that every student has the skills, opportunities, and support they need to succeed beyond graduation. Moving forward, I would focus on continuing to strengthen partnerships with families and the community, enhancing vocational and technical education opportunities, and ensuring that all students have access to the mental health and wellness resources they need to thrive." - Lorlee Engler

Extraordinary serve
Public universities mostly ought to serve their own citizens. That’s why they were founded, and it’s why taxpayers fund them. (And yet, most OU freshmen this year are not Oklahomans.) It's time for state lawmakers to act.

✅ Aligning program offerings with the needs of local employers to support a thriving regional economy.
✅ Actively engaging with students to make sure their experience is effective, efficient, and tailored to their goals—whether they’re earning a degree, certification, or taking individual courses.

Quality reiterate
It's time to vote! 8am to 5pm on weekdays through Tuesday April 29, and Election Day is May 3, 7am-7pm.
Thank you to everyone who attended or watched the candidate forum. I would like to reiterate my main goals and vision if elected to Andrews ISD School Board.
First, academic excellence for every student. I would like to see every student challenged to meet their full potential. We have kids who are doing career prep and going straight into the workforce. We have kids who have successfully joined the military. We need to encourage more kids to go to college and help them navigate this path, especially to in-demand degrees that will be valuable in the future. We must make sure that we are sending educated kids out into the world, whether they are working or going to college.
Second, teachers and support personnel are the backbone of our schools. We have to make it easier and more attractive to start and continue to work at Andrews ISD. We can improve their quality of life by listening to their needs and responding.
I believe that I have the education, experience, and mindset to be the best candidate for the Andrews ISD school board of trustees. Thank you for your votes!

Effective battle
As predicted, since the November 2024 election, the Brevard School Board has been on an accelerated path of destruction and the results of their actions are starting to catch up to them.
During the last few weeks, the Brevard School Board:
1. Fired a highly effective and very popular high school teacher (
https://www.k12dive.com/news/florida-brevard-county-teacher-license-transgender-title-ix-lgbtq-dont-say-gay-satellite-high-school/745291/
) for using a student’s preferred name, as requested by the 17-year-old student. This firing is a first across the country and the Board’s decision will most likely end up in court, costing Brevard taxpayers again. School Board member Megan Wright tried to claim that the press was “misrepresenting” (
https://thespacecoastrocket.com/moms-for-liberty-school-board-member-megan-wrights-statement-on-mrs-calhouns-termination/
) the facts when the public outcry resulted in protests and calls to the School Board.
2. Quietly reinstated a teacher (
https://thespacecoastrocket.com/teen-house-party-teacher-out-on-bond-now-teaching-at-saturn-elementary-amid-ongoing-legal-battle/
)that was involved in a party where alcohol was knowingly provided to under-age high school students. When parents found out this teacher was back in the classroom with students, the School Board quickly reversed course and suspended the teacher again (
https://www.fox35orlando.com/news/karly-anderson-florida-teacher-suspended
). School Board member Matt Susin was once again caught lying about what the school did or did not know about the actions of the teacher (
https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?ref=watch_permalink&v=1209242487235929
).
3. Removed a high school teacher due to felony domestic violence charges (
https://thespacecoastrocket.com/viera-high-school-teacher-arrested-again-for-domestic-violence-now-facing-felony-strangulation-charges/
).
4. Slow walked a response to a teacher who received a threat from a student that the student would “return to school the next day with a gun and shoot the teacher in the head”.
5. Planned to return expelled students with behavioral issues to classrooms to save money (
https://www.clickorlando.com/news/local/2025/03/26/brevard-public-schools-to-return-expelled-students-at-alternative-learning-centers-to-regular-classrooms/
).
6. Plans to vote on April 22nd to implement forced prayer at school board meetings (
https://ffrf.org/news/releases/ffrf-urges-brevard-fla-school-board-to-retain-moment-of-silence-and-avoid-prayer/
)based upon School Board member John Thomas’ claims that students need more “Jesus”. Instead of focusing on learning gains, the School Board is still focused on culture war issues.
7. Planned to close numerous schools across the district (
https://www.clickorlando.com/news/local/2025/04/08/brevard-county-could-consolidate-schools-with-lower-enrollment/
)with little understanding of the effects on students, teachers, and staff and has not sought out feedback from the community about these planned closures.
It is obvious that Brevard Schools are in a free fall, mostly due to the ineptitude of the School Board and the Superintendent. Many of the problems that are plaguing Brevard Schools can be traced back to the mass exodus of highly qualified teachers who left Brevard Schools after 2022, when the board was taken over by Moms for Liberty supported candidates.
The Brevard School Board, in a desperate bid to fill classrooms with anyone willing to teach, lowered the standards for newly hired teachers. As a result, 60% of newly hired teachers for the 2024-2025 school year had ZERO teaching education, qualifications, or experience.
The results of the Brevard School Board’s failed experiment in culture wars are harming all Brevard Public Schools students, teachers, and staff.
Please show up and speak to the School Board about your concerns with the direction of Brevard County Schools.
The next Brevard School Board meeting is April 22nd, 2025 at 5:30 PM in Viera.

Supporting Alberta's Public Education: A Conversation with the Public School Boards’ Association
Last night, I had the opportunity to meet with the Public School Boards' Association of Alberta (PSBAA)—the only organization solely dedicated to representing and advocating for Alberta’s public school boards.
It was a productive and inspiring evening focused on the importance of strong, inclusive public education across our province. Public schools remain at the heart of our communities—delivering equitable, high-quality learning opportunities for every student.
I’m proud to represent a constituency with two exceptional public school divisions—both of whom travelled to be part of this important conversation:
Northern Lights Public Schools – Thank you to Karen Packard (Board Chair), Blair Norton (Trustee), and Debra Lozinski (Trustee) for joining the discussion and sharing valuable insights from across the Bonnyville – Cold Lake – St. Paul, region.
Northland School Division – Thank you to Tanya Fayant (Board Chair, Ward 5 – Elizabeth and Fishing Lake Métis Settlements, Northland Online School for your continued leadership and advocacy on our local Settlements.
A heartfelt thank you to Minister of Education Demetrios Nicolaides for his speech and for reaffirming his commitment to the success of our children through a strong and responsive public education system. His recognition of the vital role that school boards and educators play in shaping student outcomes was well received and greatly appreciated.
And most importantly, thank you to the principals, teachers, and support staff who work tirelessly every day to educate, encourage, and inspire our students. Your dedication is the foundation of student success, and your efforts do not go unnoticed. You are shaping the future of our communities and empowering the next generation to reach their full potential.
As we continue to invest in the future of Alberta’s youth, it’s clear that collaboration between government, school boards, and communities is essential. When we support our schools, we support our families, our economy, and the future of this great province.
Thank you to the PSBAA for your ongoing advocacy. Together, we are shaping a stronger future for Alberta’s next generation.

📢 Cape Elizabeth: Show Up & Speak Out!
Did you know a $64 million bond could fully fund ALL THREE Cape schools?
Yet, instead of exploring this more affordable, all-school solution, the School Board is pushing the same rejected middle school project—for the third time—at a cost of $87 million.
❌ $0 for Cape Elizabeth High School
❌ Millions in essential elementary school improvements cut
❌ A rushed special election in June, instead of a full-voter turnout in November
📅 The Town Council is holding a public hearing on this flawed plan Monday, March 24 at 6:30 PM.
💬 Tell the Council: Respect the last two referenda. Give voters a real choice. Hold the bond vote in November—when more residents can weigh in.
Let’s demand a better plan for Cape Elizabeth schools. Join us Monday!

Valuable according
According to the Teacher Vacancy Task Force, safety and classroom discipline are some of the biggest reasons teachers consider leaving the profession.
When educators don’t feel supported in keeping their classrooms under control, everyone suffers—teachers, students, and parents.
I’ve heard many of these stories firsthand as I have traveled to classrooms across Texas: teachers afraid to intervene, students losing valuable learning time, and, in some cases, violence leading to injury.
We need real solutions. If you’ve experienced this firsthand, I want to hear from you.
Comment below or send me your thoughts confidentially at brandon.creighton@senate.texas.gov
