CitizenWatch Philippines supports this significant development and views this not as a reward, but as a renewed mandate to deliver the highest quality of service to 7.75 million customers across its 9,685-square-kilometer franchise area. Reliable and efficient power distribution is vital to national development. A stable and affordable energy supply fuels economic growth, attracts investment, supports job creation, and improves quality of life. Energy security remains a cornerstone of the Marcos Jr. administration’s socio-economic agenda. MERALCO now carries the responsibility of sustaining its strategically critical services to the most productive regions of the country. With 121 years of experience, MERALCO has the infrastructure and institutional advantage. But longevity alone is not enough. We call on MERALCO to continuously upgrade its service delivery, invest in infrastructure and innovation, and ensure the least-cost mandate is honored through transparent competitive selection processes. We call on MERALCO to present a clear roadmap on how it intends to meet the accelerating demand of its customers in the context of the emerging digital economy. CitizenWatch will remain vigilant in monitoring MERALCO’s performance and continue demanding that this renewed franchise leads to real, tangible benefits for every Filipino household and enterprise.

LINEMEN AT CREW NG MERALCO, PINURI DAHIL SA DEDIKASYON Tampok sa social media ang Facebook post ni Meralco Vice President at Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga kung saan pinuri niya ang dedikasyon ng mga line crew ng Meralco sa patuloy na pagtatrabaho para matiyak na maayos ang serbisyo sa kuryente mapa-weekend o holiday man. Sa kanyang post, ibinahagi ni Zaldarriaga ang larawan ng grupo ng mga linemen na nagtatrabaho sa panulukan ng Jade Drive, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. “Such is the life of our network personnel. No weekends, no holidays. When everybody else is at home or resting, they are out there ensuring that they keep the lights on for all of us. Mabuhay kayo, mga kasama!” ani Zaldarriaga. Dahil dito, umani ng papuri at pasasalamat mula sa mga netizens ang mga linemen ng Meralco. “Networks P.R.I.D.E. is alive and strong. Stay safe, mga kasama!” ani Froi Savet. Dagdag ni Miraflor Aragasi, “Grabe ang dedication ng mga Meralco line crew natin! Kahit weekends, tuloy pa rin ang trabaho. Salamat sa inyo, mga bossing, solid kayo!” Tinawag naman silang “unsung heroes” ni Rey Aragon. “Kayo ang tunay na unsung heroes para sa akin... Salamat sa effort at commitment para may ilaw ang bawat tahanan,” aniya. Puno ng hamon ang buhay ng isang lineman. Kinakailangan nilang harapin ang matitinding kondisyon ng panahon at mahabang oras ng trabaho upang maibalik at mapanatiling maayos ang serbisyo sa kuryente.
