Transparent inclusion
Stand Together for Justice and Lasting Peace
We urge all stakeholders to engage meaningfully in the transitional justice process and the national dialogue, while calling on the government to ensure an enabling environment that is safe, inclusive, and transparent. These processes are essential to achieving healing, accountability, and national reconciliation. To be effective, they must prioritize the voices and experiences of victims and marginalized communities.
Meaningful participation in these processes is vital to addressing past injustices and preventing future conflicts. Ultimately, true and lasting peace in Ethiopia depends on justice, truth, and inclusive dialogue.

Joyful organization
MARKING TREATY TWO IN LITTLE SASKATCHEWAN
The Little Saskatchewan First Nation is the latest to mark the 154th anniversary of Treaty Two.
This week, Chief Hector Shorting, Council, and representatives of Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) kicked off the Nation’s annual Treaty Days celebration with payouts.
Meanwhile, staff from the Nation’s Band office kicked off a week of activities in a tasty way, hosting a take-out pancake breakfast.
This was a good way to acknowledge our peoples’ rights and traditional territories, but also served as a reminder that there is much that needs to be done to repair the working relationship between our Nations and our Treaty partners.
Today, the Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) acknowledges the leadership and people of Little Saskatchewan for creating a joyful community event to mark their Nation’s sacred Treaty.
Treaty Days events are taking place in many of our First Nations, and SCO is pleased to share a list of celebrations taking place in our member Nations.
Be sure to visit our website to view the list:

BYC distributes 150K Research Grants
Launched in 2021, the Ideation Impact Challenge (IIC) was initiated by the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) to empower young people across the region to design and implement projects focused on community peacebuilding and development. Since then, the BYC has continued to strengthen this initiative, providing platforms and resources for youth-led innovation. In a recent round of the program, the Commission awarded ₱150,000 each to four winning researchers and grantees whose proposals successfully passed through rigorous screening processes conducted with technical experts.
In 2024, the program shifted its focus toward supporting policy research on Gender and Development (GAD). Under this new direction, three youth-led teams were awarded ₱200,000 each to develop policy recommendations on pressing social issues, including early and arranged marriage, mental health, and GAD from an Islamic perspective. These research projects underwent final review and were formally presented during a policy forum in December 2024.
The organizations and institutions awarded grants in earlier cycles included: SPMS Box United Youth Leaders, Ethical Young Leaders Organization, Youth Leaders in Maguindanao, Canizares National High School. These groups are currently undergoing the full research cycle and are expected to present their findings in the coming months.
"This initiative is part of our continuing commitment to enable, engage, and empower the Bangsamoro youth. With the support of our expert partners and the guidance of BYC, we trust that your work will generate knowledge that informs our lawmakers, ministries, and communities in creating gender-responsive, youth-centered, and impactful programs,"
— BYC Chairperson Nas Dunding
"The Bangsamoro Youth Commission believes that meaningful change begins when our youth harness the power of research, collaboration, and critical thinking. True progress starts when we invest in knowledge and open spaces for young minds to lead in shaping our future. Ang inyong mga pananaliksik ay magsisilbing gabay sa pamahalaan at mga katuwang nito upang makabuo ng mas makatarungan at epektibong mga patakaran para sa kabataan ng Bangsamoro." He added.

Practical strengthening

At URC-2025 in Rome, and in the context of the Coalition for Sustainable Municipalities, we launched the European Partnership Hub — a practical response to the Berlin Call to Action and a next step in connecting Ukrainian and European municipalities.
The Hub is led by the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) and supported by U-LEAD with Europe, the Association of Ukrainian Cities, and a broad coalition of partners. It is backed by all U-LEAD with Europe donors: the EU, Germany, Denmark, France, Poland, and Slovenia.
💡 The Hub matches hromadas and municipalities
📘 Offers mentoring, training, and project guidance
🔧 And is complemented by targeted funding through a Small Projects Fund
"There is a lot to learn between municipalities both ways, and this Partnership Hub can make an important contribution to do that,” — Stefan Schleuning, Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation to Ukraine.
"The job is not done yet. Efforts are tremendous, but so are the challenges at the local level. Capacity building is key — and partnership, peer learning, and cooperation are essential to address these challenges. That’s what we want to support through the Hub,” — believes Volker Oel, the Commissioner of BMZ for Eastern Europe.
This is about long-term cooperation and practical steps for Ukraine’s recovery.
📍Stay tuned!

In a momentous recognition of visionary leadership and tireless commitment to youth development, the Youths Awakening and Development Initiative (YADI) Nigeria has conferred its prestigious “Governor of the Year” Award on the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah
This honour was bestowed in acknowledgment of the Governor’s outstanding contributions to the transformation of Enugu State through strategic investments in education, entrepreneurship, skills development, and youth inclusion in governance. The award was presented during YADI’s Business Growth Conference that was followed globally online, held recently in Enugu where 5 Youths were given N100,000 Business Grants and secondary Students got full tuition scholarships, and was officially received on behalf of the Governor by his Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Hon. Frank Anioma, in his office — owing to the Governor’s unavoidable absence at the event.
Presenting the award, Mr. Timothy Ugochukwu Nnamani, Executive Director of YADI, stated that the choice of Governor Mbah was based on his intentionality in youth empowerment, visionary policies, and the creation of an enabling environment for young people to thrive.
“𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒂 𝒔𝒚𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝒈𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒂 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒕 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝑬𝒏𝒖𝒈𝒖 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆. He further emphasized that under the Mbah-led administration, young people across Enugu State have begun to experience real opportunities for growth, with revamped hope and a clear path to self-reliance.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Governor, Hon. Frank Anioma expressed deep gratitude to YADI and commended the organization for its continuous efforts in awakening the potentials of youths across the state and beyond. He reassured the team of the Governor’s commitment to sustaining youth-friendly policies and supporting innovative grassroots initiatives.
The “Governor of the Year” Award by YADI has become a notable recognition reserved for leaders who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing youth development and social impact. With this honour, YADI continues to spotlight leaders who inspire change and empower the next generation.
This recognition marks another milestone in YADI’s commitment to promoting youth-driven development and celebrating leadership that truly transforms lives

Unique scenic
The future of the Box Hill Brickworks site is at a pivotal point. With current plans leaning towards major residential development, we see a unique opportunity to instead transform this area into a thriving public park. This transformation would not only provide essential green space but also enrich our community's quality of life with scenic picnic areas, playgrounds, and serene walking trails.
We need your voice.
Join us in urging the Victorian Government and the Suburban Rail Loop Authority to prioritise this transformation. Advocate for the preservation of the Box Hill Brickworks site as parkland, and stand against its overdevelopment.
Say NO to Overdevelopment. Say YES to Parkland!
