BCMF and the Peace Region Metis Community Association (PRMCA), alongside valued partners, were proud to host the 2nd Annual Family Jamboree in Fort St. John on June 6th and 7th. The two-day gathering brought together families, community members, and guests from across the region for a vibrant celebration of Métis culture, kinship, and connection. More than just a festival, this year’s jamboree was a space for cultural sharing and reconciliation. Through music, dance, and community dialogue, participants honoured Métis heritage and history while building stronger relationships across the region. Traditional dance demonstrations and Métis fiddle music showcased the richness of Métis traditions, preserving the Métis spirit for future generations. 【漁民的「契爺」——朱大仙The “Godfather” of Fishermen - Chu Tai Sin】 提到香港的大仙，許多人立刻會想到「有求必應」的黃大仙。然而，對於部分港澳漁民來說，還有一位共同尊崇的「契爺」——朱大仙。✨ 根據傳說，朱大仙是醫藥之神，並被認為是大禹的化身。水上人相信朱大仙能夠保佑航海安全，因此他們將其尊奉為「契爺」。🙏在面對重要事情時，漁民們會向契爺祈求「聖意」，並在船上⛵或家中設置他的神像，供奉祭拜，祈求保佑。 每年農曆五月中上旬，港澳漁民會在內港海面舉行朱大仙醮，祈求平安，例如香港仔合勝堂每年舉辦的朱大仙醮，活動內容包括灑淨、誦經、開印、大蒙山施食、供天、封印、金榜開光、水幽、過關、陸幽、讚星轉運、卜杯和送神等儀式。2014年，香港仔合勝堂的朱大仙醮被正式列入「香港非物質文化遺產清單」，這不僅是對傳統文化的肯定，也讓更多人了解這一獨特的漁民信仰。📜 想了解更多水上信仰的有趣知識，快來參觀香港海事博物館B層！ When it comes to Hong Kong's Tai Sin (deities), many people immediately think of Wong Tai Sin, known for his "wish-fulfilling" powers. However, for some fishermen in Hong Kong and Macau, there is another revered figure known as the "Godfather" — Chu Tai Sin. ✨ Legend has it that Chu Tai Sin is the god of medicine and is also seen as the incarnation of Da Yu. Fishermen believe he can ensure safe journeys at sea, and honor him as "Godfather." 🙏 When important matters arise, they turn to Chu Tai Sin for guidance, setting up his statue on their boats ⛵ or in their homes to offer prayers and seek his blessings. Every year during the fifth lunar month, Hong Kong and Macau fishermen hold a ritual called the “Chu Tai Sin Jiao” in the inner harbor to pray for safety at sea, such as the Chu Tai Sin Jiao Festival organized by the Hap Sing Tong in Aberdeen. The festivities include cleansing, chanting scriptures, opening the seal, liberating the flaming mouths, making offerings to heaven, closing the seal, an enshrinement ceremony for the villagers’ name list, water ghost pacification, striding through the gates, land ghost pacification, praising the constellations to reverse fortunes, throwing divination blocks, and sending off deities, among others. In 2014, the Chu Tai Sin Jiao Festival organized by the Hap Sing Tong in Aberdeen was included in the “Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory of Hong Kong." The Beauty of Barns will explore the iconic Pennsylvania Bank Barn in Franklin County and its contribution to the county’s heritage and cultural identity. The Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Visitor Center is hosting its annual Native American Artifact Show on Saturday, March 8, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The show will feature authentic Native American artifacts from a number of private and public collections. Visitors will be able to see some of the finest examples of spear points, arrowheads, tools, and pottery in the Midwest. Hands-on activities will include corn grinding demonstrations and pottery making. Don't miss out on a special presentation at 1:00 pm! "Native Representation in the History of Nebraska and the Importance of Entities to Work with Their Respective Tribe" This presentation is given by Gage County Historical Society and Museum and the Otoe-Missouria Tribe. Last summer the tribe and the museum partnered together to provide the public with a summer exposition about the Otoe-Missouria Tribe and their time in Nebraska and on the Big Blue Reservation. Melea Hoffman, archivist and researcher from the Otoe-Missouria Tribe and Skye Che K'o Manyimi Harragarra-Harms 2024- 2025 Frontier Inter-Tribal Youth Leadership Princess representative of the Otoe-Missouria tribe will speak from the perspective of the tribe on how and why their tribe needed representation in Nebraska History. This includes the tribe's perspective of how life on reservation is often misportrayed. Cassandra Dean, executive director of the Gage County Historical Society, will discuss how it was like working with the tribe and the struggles she ran into to make sure their representation was felt in the exhibit. As well give suggestions to entities (museum, government, non-profit, and private) who work alongside Native American tribes. Please Note: This exhibition is intended for educational purposes only and no sale, purchase, barter, or trade of artifacts or similar items is permitted at the show or on the grounds of Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Visitor Center.

Profiling the 1866 Father Willis organ and the historic church building of St Margaret’s Church in Knightswood, Glasgow—both exceptional pieces of our cultural heritage, and currently at risk. Famed Scottish architect Sir Robert Lorimer designed St Margaret’s Church, and it became the last church in Scotland to be built wholly of stone. This significant listed building is home to an equally important pipe organ, which was the first commission for a Scottish church by the leading Victorian organ builder, Henry ‘Father’ Willis. With the church having been closed by the Church of Scotland, the survival of both these precious gems is in danger.

ازول فلاون ستما د ايتما .. اسوقاس امققاز 2975 .. كل عام و الجميع بخير بمناسنة راس السنة الامازيغية. الصور المرفقة هى موروت الفن الصخرى مع كتابة تيفيناغ الامازيغية التى تركها لنا اجدادنا القدماء منذ الالاف السنين .. هذا الموروث الفنى العجيب و الذى قاوم كل المؤثرات الطبيعية طيلة كل السنوات و التى ابهرت الكثير من المؤسسات العلمية و الجامعات و مراكز البحوت فى ايطاليا و سويسرا و المانيا و بريطانيا و حتى اليونيسكو و غيرهم عدا فئة متخلفة من الليبين.. حيت تم تخصيص الميزانيات من قبل هذه المؤسسات الدولية لدراسة هذا النوع من الفنون الصخرية و التى تعكس حالة حضارية غير عادية فى جنوب ليبيا .. لقد ساهمت هذه الاثار فى استقطاب علماء الاثار و التاريخ و كذلك السواح من مختلف دول العالم و ضلت مصدر دخل مهم لأهلنا فى الجنوب و حتى الشمال .. للأسف تم تخريب العديد من هذه الاثار المهمة من قبل بعض المتخلفين الليبين العنصريين و الذين نراهم و نقابلهم فى السوشيال ميديا و فى حياتنا اليومية . لعب النظام العروبى السابق دور مهم فى معادة الثقافة الامازيغية من خلال منع الاسماء الامازيغية و تزوير مناهج التاريخ و الجغرافيا و التى مازالت الحكومات حتى الان تمارس التضليل و المعادة لثقافتنا و ِتراثنا و غيرها من الافعال الغير انسانية. كل تلك السياسات العنصرية انتجت لنا فئة من المجتمع منهم من هم فى مراكز صنع القرار اليوم يحاولون القيام و بكل ما بوسعهم تخريب تراثنا تارة بإسم العروبة و تارة بإسم الدين .. الدول المتحضرة لا تعادى تاريخها و ثقافتها المتجدرة فى التاريخ بل تفتخر به و تدعم كل النشاطات حول عرض هذه الثقافة و نشرها و لتكون دعم للاقتصاد و للسياحة و مصدر دخل للسكان المحليين و للدولة .. للأسف ما حدِث فى ليبيا العكس طيل العشرات بل المئات من السنوات الماضية و بالتالى حان الوقت لمواجهة كل هذه الافعال الغير انسانية و العنصرية اتجاهنا و التى يجب ان تبداء من المدرسة و مناهج التاريخ و الجغرافيا و من خلال دستور متحضر يحمى لغتنا و ثقافتنا. اسوقاس امققاز .. تانميرت

🔹В края на 2024 г. по време на сесията в Асунсион, Парагвай, Междуправителственият комитет на ЮНЕСКО за опазване на нематериалното културно наследство /НКН/ вписа 61 нови елемента в Представителния списък на НКН на човечеството. 🔹Държавите членки на Регионален Център София – ЮНЕСКО вписаха няколко нови елемента, които ще представим в следващите няколко поста. Първият елемент е вписан от Албания – това е танцът к'cimi от Тропоя. 🔹В Албания танцът k'cimi е популярен празничен танц, който се изпълнява на спонтанни събирания или по време на традиционни церемонии като сватби, рождени дни, посвещения и селски празници. Обикновено под съпровода на барабани, k'cimi се изпълнява от мъже, жени и деца от всички възрасти и по двойки, като партньорите се сменят в зависимост от случая и избора на танцьорите. Хората танцуват лице в лице, без да се докосват. Те правят замайващи движения, като вдигат и свалят ръцете си, докато се движат един около друг. В зависимост от случая някои танцьори могат да носят традиционно облекло. По време на танца жените могат да размахват и кърпа, обикновено червена на цвят. Танцът k'cimi се практикува традиционно от жителите на Тропоя и се свързва с пролетните празници, планинските пейзажи и полета на орлите - символ на сила и колективна идентичност. 🌟🌟🌟 🔹At the end of 2024 during the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Asunción, Republic of Paraguay, 61 new elements were inscribed on the Representative List of ICH of Humanity. 🔹The Member States of Regional Centre Sofia – UNESCO have also inscribed new elements, which are going to be presented in the next few posts. The first item is listed from Albania - it is the k'cimi dance from Tropoja. 🔹In Albania, the k’cimi dance is a popular, festive dance performed in spontaneous gatherings or during traditional ceremonies such as weddings, birthdays, initiations and village celebrations. Typically accompanied by drums, k’cimi is performed by men, women and children of all ages, and usually in couples, with partners changing according to the occasion and the dancers’ choice. People dance face to face, without touching. They make swooning movements, raising and dropping their arms as they move around one another. According to the occasion, some dancers may wear traditional attire. During the dance, women may also wave a handkerchief, usually red in colour. The k’cimi dance is traditionally practiced by the people of Tropojë and is associated with springtime celebrations, mountainous landscapes and the flight of eagles – a symbol of strength and of collective identity.

This community curated exhibition celebrates different cultures and the diversity that makes Basingstoke such a special place to live. Explore the lives of those who shape our community and discover how their contributions benefit our town. Amazingstoke as it is called by those in the know! The exhibition has been co-curated in partnership with a Community Collective formed as part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, funded Hunters & Gatherers project. This group of individuals, who hail from a diverse range of backgrounds, ethnicities and professions, have brought a unique perspective to the exhibition. Their lived experiences bring an authentic eye-opening revelation on life and work in the town. The exhibition features illustrations by commissioned artist Nami Ralph. Her playful work is inspired by the concept of ‘home’ as seen through the eyes of local school children, capturing what Basingstoke means to them. Basingstoke’s My Home is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to work with a new team of young volunteers to improve collections auditing and research, research significant, untold stories and develop community co-curation and engagement in new and exciting ways.
