The Journey Home is proud to welcome Daniel Baker "Dan" as our new CEO!
Dan brings over 20 years of experience across the military, corporate, and nonprofit sectors, with a strong background in financial management, strategic operations, and veteran advocacy. His work has been defined by transforming organizations, optimizing operations, and driving meaningful impact in the community.
Military Service & Commitment to Veterans
Dan is currently a Master Sergeant (MSgt) in the Air National Guard and has dedicated his life to serving his country. His military career began with 9.5 years on active duty as a C-17A Loadmaster, where he played a crucial role in logistics, airlift operations, and global mobility missions. He continues his service in the Air National Guard, supporting critical military operations while advocating for veterans transitioning into civilian life.
His firsthand experience navigating military service and veteran reintegration fuels his passion for helping at-risk veterans secure stable housing, employment, and mental health support, making his role at The Journey Home even more personal and impactful.
Looking Ahead
As CEO, Dan is committed to expanding The Journey Home’s programs and ensuring veterans have access to the resources they need to thrive. His vision is to build on the organization’s foundation, strengthen partnerships, secure sustainable funding, and enhance support systems that empower veterans on their path to independence.
Additionally, Dan will continue serving as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the YMCA of Muncie, where he plays a key role in financial strategy, operational improvements, and community development. His ongoing work ensures the YMCA remains financially strong and mission-focused.

Dan has built a diverse career in financial management, operations, and community development, working across nonprofit, corporate, and entrepreneurial ventures. His expertise in financial strategy, economic growth, and business transformation has made a lasting impact across multiple industries.
📌 CFO of the YMCA of Muncie – Dan will continue serving as the Chief Financial Officer of the YMCA of Muncie, where he oversees financial strategy, modernization, and resource management to support the YMCA’s mission. His work has helped increase financial transparency, optimize operations, and secure long-term financial stability.
📌 Co-Founder & CEO of Always Home Custom Designs – Alongside his wife, Katie Baker, Dan will also continue leading Always Home Custom Designs, a growing interior design firm that has expanded to serve homeowners, interior designers, and contractors nationwide. Their company has become a trusted name in custom design, known for blending creativity with precision to deliver high-quality, functional spaces.
📌 Former President & CEO of Randolph County United – Dan previously served as the President & CEO of Randolph County United, where he helped drive economic growth, workforce development, and community revitalization. During his tenure, he worked with state and federal agencies, local businesses, and community leaders to create sustainable economic initiatives that positioned Randolph County for long-term success.
📌 Board & Advisory Roles – Dan has served on multiple boards and advisory committees, providing expertise in financial planning, operations, and business growth for organizations focused on community betterment, economic development, and veteran services.
