Kenya is home to diverse ecosystems and ecological zones—including forest, grassland, scrubland, dry woodland, inland aquatic, coastal, and marine areas. As such, a vast array of fascinating wildlife can be found throughout the country. However, many of these species have very restricted ranges and are threatened by human activities like agriculture, dam construction, livestock grazing, and deforestation, in addition to poaching and the illegal wildlife trade. At IFAW, we recognise the important role wildlife plays in maintaining ecosystems and the health of our planet. So, we’re working hard to protect habitats, rescue and rehabilitate threatened species, combat illegal trade, and support communities and animals so they can live harmoniously alongside one another. Here are some of Kenya’s most endangered animals in 2025 that need our help.
