His pop music career flourished in the late 1960s and early 1970s with hits like “Little Woman,” “Julie, Do Ya Love Me,” “La La La (If I Had You),” and “Easy Come, Easy Go.” At the peak of his fame, Sherman received tens of thousands of fan letters each week and became a staple on magazine covers and TV variety shows. In a remarkable second act, Sherman stepped away from the spotlight in the late 1970s to pursue a career in public service. He became a certified EMT and later a training officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, where he taught CPR and first aid to thousands of officers. He served as a reserve deputy sheriff in San Bernardino County and was recognized for his service and commitment to emergency medical education. In 2011, Sherman co-founded the Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children’s Foundation with his wife, Brigitte Poublon, focusing on providing education and healthcare to children in Ghana. The couple was deeply involved in charitable efforts throughout their later years. Sherman was previously married to Patti Carnel, with whom he had two sons, Christopher and Tyler. In 2010, he married Brigitte Poublon, who survives him, along with his sons and six grandchildren. Diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer earlier in 2025, Sherman remained gracious and reflective in his final months, continuing to read fan mail and express gratitude for the life he had lived.
