July 5th is Iwo Jima Day at the National Museum of Military Vehicles! The National Museum of Military Vehicles will host Shayne Jarosz, Executive Director of the Iwo Jima Association, for a special two-hour presentation on July 5, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m. His presentation, titled “Iwo Jima, Past, Present, and Future: Why This Iconic Battle Still Matters to the United States,” will explore the significance of the Battle of Iwo Jima, the island’s place in modern history, its return to Japanese control, and what is happening there today. The Battle of Iwo Jima and the famous flag-raising on Mount Suribachi are deeply embedded in both Marine Corps tradition and American national identity. The July 4th weekend offers a fitting opportunity to reflect on this powerful chapter in the history of American freedom. This event is included with regular museum admission or free for annual members. A lunch buffet will be available for an additional fee, and no reservations are required.
