Some people ask "What has he actually done?" It’s a fair question—and one I welcome. I believe we should be judged on our actions, not just our words. So here’s a quick look at what I’ve delivered for our community: 🏡 Housing: In late 2022, I moved a motion in Council (which was passed) to review our planning department. That set the stage for: - $1.6 million in federal funding for strategic residential planning - Removal of subdivision fees for lots of 3 or fewer - A positive culture shift in the department—focused on helping, not hindering 👶 Children & Childcare: - As a board member of a not-for-profit childcare center, I helped secure $4 million in federal funding for a new facility—adding 80 new childcare places for local families - In August 2024, I successfully moved a motion for a review of the Rocket Ship at ANZAC Park. It’s now out for public discussion and I’m hopeful it will be funded in the 2025/26 budget so this iconic play space can be enjoyed once again 🤝 Community: - I pushed for an annual community council meeting in Penguin, which has become one of the best attended and most engaging meetings we hold - As Chair of the Penguin 150 Committee, we’ve secured nearly $20,000 in government grants and more than $30,000 in sponsorships to deliver a year of fantastic community events in 2025 - I also successfully removed Council fees for businesses working in road reserves, allowing local shop owners to clean and maintain their facades without unnecessary extra costs 💰 In total, I’ve helped bring nearly $6 million into our region—through a combination of council motions, advocacy, and community partnerships. Much of this has been done as an unpaid volunteer, with plenty of late nights and time away from family—who have been nothing short of amazing. I’ve also had the support of some wonderful people (both paid and unpaid) who’ve brought these projects to life. We are a community of doers in Montgomery, and I’m proud to be part of it. I’ll keep showing up, keep fighting for funding, and keep working with our community to build something great—because that’s what I’ve done, and what I’ll continue to do.
