🚨🚨DEVELOPING 🚨🚨 — Elon Musk and his “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) have seized access to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) contracts and payments system as they look to slash climate and environmental justice programs. This comes as his team has targeted environmental agencies with unprecedented layoffs and halt-work orders. Musk has threatened to terminate more than 1,100 employees at the EPA, and has put the ENTIRE Office of Environmental Justice on administrative leave. Without staff or budget to carry out their mission — and with Musk controlling the payments systems — environmental agencies will be prevented from enforcing our most fundamental environmental laws, including keeping communities safe from pollution and cleaning up after environmental disasters.
