Crucifixion was for the worst criminals, the lowest of low. Put a man on a cross and people will mock him. In no way was a crucified Jesus the ideal figure to appeal to either jews or greeks. And yet, this was the exact Jesus that the apostles preached. We cannot get to the resurrected Jesus before we preach about the crucified Jesus. To show the Victor off you must reveal His task. The brutality Jesus went through on our behalf is proof of His undying, devotion and love for us. If we preach Him as no more than a healer, and a sweet, kind and gentle man then we have concealed the truth. We cannot reshape Him according to the ideals of the world. He is after all the one who made the world. The day Jesus was risen is the day He conquered the devil in all ways. Jesus shared His victory with us, making us co heirs with Him. The shadow of doubt that was cast over His followers was dramatically changed into the blinding light of hope and boldness. He came as a man and did what none of us could ever do- and the best part is He doesn't hold it against us. Instead He empowers us to do even greater things than He did.
