After growing up in Mauritius, studying in France, and working in South Australia—Dr Zahrah is now calling Gippsland home. Dr Zahrah is our newest GP working out of the LCHS Morwell clinic, and has a special interest in preventative medicine, chronic diseases, cardiovascular disease, and elderly care. She also has a background working in urology and women’s health. “It’s in my personality to see things through. I really like the role of a GP to be there from the beginning of the health problem to the end,” Dr Zahrah says. Dr Zahrah has always been drawn to working in rural areas, and is excited about her next chapter in Gippsland. “In my time working in rural South Australia, I’ve seen how access to healthcare in regional areas works, and how different it can be to metro. I believe in health equity, and I’m happy to be where I’m needed,” she says. “Gippsland does feel like home already.” Dr Zahrah’s approach to healthcare is holistic and patient-focused. “My approach is to be welcoming and non-judgemental; that’s something all doctors need to be,” she says. “I also see myself as progressive-minded. Being a GP is a lifetime learning curve and I would like to keep on learning to become a better GP.” We’re really excited to have Dr Zahrah on board at our LCHS GP clinic in Morwell.
