HE HAS RISEN. HE HAS RISEN INDEED!! Yes, our Lenten season has come to an end. We now are in the Season of Easter. During this time, we will hear of the interaction of Jesus with his disciples in a number of places, the upper room, on the shore of the Lake of Tiberias, and other places as well. By this time, though still swirling in their minds if this is not a group hallucination, the disciples have encountered the Lord. He has encouraged them to go forth and proclaim the Good News, which is still the mission of the church today. This mission is not just for those in Religious Life, but a mission which is given to each of us who are baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus. We may be very much like the early disciples. We say YES to the fact that Jesus is risen. We proclaim it in the Creed of our Church, and yet we have not yet seen the risen Lord appear to us. For most of us the resurrection is an article of faith, and maybe nothing more. And if we listen to the news, we may wonder that if God has just given us up to our own designs. Pope Francis tells us today, "Jesus' hope is different. He plants in our hearts the conviction that God is able to make everything work unto good, because even from the grave he brings life." Hopefully, we have tilled and prepared our garden so that what God has in mind to plant in our hearts takes root and brings forth much fruit. A blessed and safe Easter Sunday to each of you.
