“The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded... Above all, keep loving one another earnestly.” (1 Peter 4:7–8) Our time is short. That’s what Peter is saying here. And he’s not saying it to scare us or to make us hold tighter to this world. Peter means it to focus us. Because Christ suffered for us, we’re called to live differently: holy, urgent, and full of love. We don’t have time to waste. We have such a short season of Kingdom usefulness.
