constraint

My Sunday two minute sermon. The fence is missing but the sheep will not go through the gate" could have many possible meanings, today we will explore three. First, the image serves as a powerful metaphor for how we can feel ‘stuck’ despite having the freedom to move forward. It’s a reminder to step back, reassess, and realize that the gate is open and the path to growth is ours to take. Secondly, and this is the biblical reference. The imagery draws heavily from the parable of the Good Shepherd in the Bible (John 10), where Jesus is described as the "gate" and the sheep are the followers who trust and listen to his voice. The sheep trust in the shepherd: hence the sheep's willingness to stay within the boundaries even without a fence shows their trust in the shepherd to guide and protect them. This means that even though there is no physical barrier preventing them from leaving, the sheep still choose to stay within the designated area, likely because they trust and follow the shepherd, signifying a strong sense of obedience and reliance on leadership, often interpreted as a metaphor for people choosing to follow the right path even when there's no apparent constraint. Thirdly and this is the moral interpretation of the imagery. In a broader sense, it can represent the idea that people will choose to do the right thing, even when there's no immediate consequence or pressure, if they have faith in a higher power or ethical principles to guide their thoughts or actions. Key points to consider: 1. Physical barrier: Sometimes, we unknowingly limit ourselves, staying within barriers that no longer serve us. 2. Biblical reference and theological interpretation: The trust we have in God's guidance should encourage growth through faith and commitment in the guidance of the Shepherd. 3. Moral interpretation: Speaks to our integrity and ethical principles that guide our thoughts and actions. Conclusion and celebration: We can be our own worst enemy if we do not seek a relationship of faith, love and commitment with our God who guides us and steers our moral compass in the right direction in thought and action. When you come to a gate in life be sure you are in communication with God for guidance on how you should govern yourself. Though God may not be present physically God is present within us and if we tune our hearts and minds to his frequency we can hear God's gentle guidance in the right direction. When you come to an obstacle in life, seek God. God will see you through. If you are unsure of what to do, stand fast, reassess and allow for God to guide your heart and mind in the proper direction. Lastly, I share the advice my mother would often give me when giving instruction and guidance when I had made mistakes. She would often say, "When you are not sure what to do, do the right thing. You can't go wrong with that." This has been my Sunday two minute sermon. I hope it blesses your heart and nourishes your soul. Grace and Peace Facebook family and friends. Blessings to you for a great week. 🐑. 🌱
