Hope Abbey mausoleum, located in the Eugene Masonic Cemetery, will be open to the public on Sunday, June 29, from 1 to 4 pm. Designed by Ellis Lawrence and dedicated in 1914, the abbey is unique and fascinating.
Eugene Masonic Cemetery Association board members will welcome visitors and provide information about the magnificently restored Egyptian Revival-style mausoleum and the historic cemetery, established in 1859. After visiting the Hope Abbey, walk the bark paths of the cemetery. Stroll and read the signage about Eugene and Mary Skinner and the many other pioneers for whom the cemetery is their final resting place. The cemetery is an official arboretum where you can enjoy the varied landscape as you learn about our permanent residents on the many recently cleaned and restored markers.
Gates open at 1pm for drop-off, but there is no parking in the cemetery. Park on the street at the cemetery's entrance at 25th and University and walk up the path to the Abbey.
