In a heartfelt recognition of humanitarian efforts that transcend borders, Mr Shalinder Laroia, Founder of the Firozpur Foundation, Punjabi based NGO ,was formally felicitated at the South Australian Parliament House by the Hon. Michelle Lensink MLC.
Mr Laroia was joined by Mr Kanwaldeep (KD) Singh, Trustee of MILAAP—a South Australian multicultural initiative that has played a key role in identifying and celebrating individuals making a lasting impact in the community. MILAAP was instrumental in bringing Mr Laroia’s inspiring work to light, helping connect his story to leaders and changemakers across Australia.
Hon. Michelle Lensink praised Mr Laroia’s tireless work to support families living below the poverty line in India, describing the Firozpur Foundation as “a powerful example of grassroots action creating global impact.”
As part of the recognition, Mr Laroia was presented with a memento of appreciation and received a guided tour of the Parliament House, including its rich architectural and legislative history.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr Laroia said, “I am humbled by this honour and deeply touched by the warmth shown to me here. South Australia truly feels like a second home. This moment has given me renewed energy to expand the Foundation’s reach and continue our mission of serving those in need.”
This gesture by the South Australian Parliament not only recognised the work of an exceptional individual but also reflected a broader commitment to encouraging global goodwill, multicultural engagement, and service beyond borders. Through platforms like MILAAP, more such stories of impact are coming forward—lighting the path for others to follow.
