MARKING TREATY TWO IN LITTLE SASKATCHEWAN The Little Saskatchewan First Nation is the latest to mark the 154th anniversary of Treaty Two. This week, Chief Hector Shorting, Council, and representatives of Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) kicked off the Nation’s annual Treaty Days celebration with payouts. Meanwhile, staff from the Nation’s Band office kicked off a week of activities in a tasty way, hosting a take-out pancake breakfast. This was a good way to acknowledge our peoples’ rights and traditional territories, but also served as a reminder that there is much that needs to be done to repair the working relationship between our Nations and our Treaty partners. Today, the Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) acknowledges the leadership and people of Little Saskatchewan for creating a joyful community event to mark their Nation’s sacred Treaty. The decision, which required the consensus of all member states, was adopted during the ICPEN International Conference, which was held in Washington, D.C., from May 12 to 16. “This is a significant recognition of both the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency and our country. The adoption of the Law of Georgia on the Protection of Consumer Rights by the Parliament in 2022 laid the foundation for far-reaching reforms. Since then, a series of impactful decisions and standards have transformed business practices and significantly strengthened consumer protection. The GCCA has been an active participant in ICPEN’s working groups, and it is a great honor for us to assume the presidency of this important international network and to welcome our colleagues to Georgia“ - stated Irakli Lekvinadze, Chairman of the GCCA, in his address to the conference. ICPEN brings together consumer protection authorities from nearly 90 countries across the globe. The network includes members, partners, and observers—among them prominent international organizations such as the World Bank, UNCTAD, the OECD, and the European Commission. From the 2020 recreation study that was (partially) presented to Council on March 25, 2025 during the bike park feasibility study update, it is abundantly clear that more residents want Natural Areas/wildlife habitat, and soft surface and paved trails, than want another bike park in Fort Collins. And that those outdoor recreational uses are a priority investment for the City. No amount of cherry-picking of data will change that. PRESFOR : Une réponse concrète aux défis fonciers et au chômage des jeunes dans les régions du Poro et du Tchologo Dans le cadre du Programme de Renforcement de la Sécurisation du Foncier Rural (PRESFOR), l’Agence Foncière Rurale (AFOR), sous la direction du Ministre Bamba Cheick Daniel, a organisé, les 8 et 10 avril 2025, deux cérémonies officielles de lancement à Korhogo et Ferkessédougou. Ces événements marquent le démarrage effectif des opérations de terrain dans les régions du Poro et du Tchologo, confiées au Cabinet de Géomètre-Expert Diallo Sekou (CGEDS), acteur de référence dans le domaine de la sécurisation foncière rurale en Côte d’Ivoire. Le cabinet, reconnu pour son expertise et sa capacité opérationnelle, a réalisé plus de 90 % des programmes nationaux antérieurs en matière de foncier rural. Dans la région du Poro, les activités couvriront 18 sous-préfectures et 597 villages, avec pour objectifs la délimitation de 459 territoires villageois, la certification de 532 733 hectares de parcelles, et la formalisation de 53 273 contrats agraires. Dans la région du Tchologo, ce sont 9 sous-préfectures et 131 villages qui sont concernés, avec 21 territoires de villages à délimiter, 456 871 hectares à certifier et 45 687 contrats agraires à formaliser. Ces opérations visent à sécuriser les droits coutumiers, prévenir les conflits fonciers et renforcer la paix et la cohésion sociale en milieu rural. En complément de ces interventions techniques, le projet « un Jeune, une Formation, un Emploi » a été intégré à la dynamique du PRESFOR. Ce projet, porté par les Conseil Régionaux du Tchologo et Poro avec le soutien de l’Agence Emploi Jeunes, prévoit de former et d’insérer 2 500 jeunes dans des domaines stratégiques de la géomatique, du BTP et de la sécurisation foncière. Il s’agit d’une réponse concrète à la nécessité de disposer d’une main d’œuvre locale qualifiée et immédiatement opérationnelle, tout en offrant aux jeunes une opportunité d’insertion professionnelle durable. La première phase de ce programme prévoit la formation de 800 jeunes à Korhogo (région du Poro) et de 500 jeunes à Ferkessédougou (région du Tchologo). Ces jeunes seront formés aux techniques et aux outils liés aux opérations foncières, mais aussi à l’animation communautaire. Ils interviendront en tant qu’agents de liaison entre les projets et les populations, assurant l’information, la sensibilisation, le recueil des demandes et l’appui sur le terrain. Ce dispositif novateur est le fruit d’une collaboration stratégique entre le CGEDS, l’AFOR, les Conseils Régionaux du Tchologo et du Poro, ainsi que plusieurs partenaires techniques. Il traduit une volonté commune de faire du foncier rural un levier de développement local et de stabilité sociale. En renforçant les capacités des jeunes et en les associant pleinement aux opérations, le PRESFOR et le projet « Un Jeune, Une Formation, Un Emploi » participent activement à l’amélioration de la gouvernance foncière et à la transformation socio-économique des territoires concernés. #SécuritéFoncière #FoncierRural #PRESFOR #CohésionSociale #Employabilité
