If we are genuinely called to intercede, we must not let our biases, preferences, opinions, wants, or desires hinder our intercession for others—be it individuals, groups, places, or situations. Our ability to intercede stems from our love for those involved, but I believe that authentic intercession is rooted in our love for the Father. I pray for what God places on my heart out of love for Him, trusting that He inspires those prayers due to His love for the people. This morning, I pose a question: Can God trust you to pray for the people, circumstances, and places He lays on your heart? Can He confide in you with the secrets of others? Will you intercede for those you may not particularly like? True intercession requires us to die to ourselves and let the Father's love fill our hearts. I believe intercession embodies true love, as its sole focus is to pray for the Father's will. Take a moment this morning to pray for that challenging co-worker, to lift up someone who may treat you unfairly, or to remember your enemy. Consider those around you whom you may have overlooked during your prayer time. There are countless individuals hurting in this world, and each day presents us with the opportunity to pray for them and reflect the love of Jesus Christ.
