24.6 million people—half of Sudan’s population—face high levels of acute food insecurity, among whom more than 8 million people face an emergency. And the already catastrophic situation is expected to worsen this year. To date, humanitarian aid deliveries have fallen far short of the needs. With the region’s rainy and lean season approaching, warring parties must grant unhindered access for humanitarian organizations. Doctors Without Borders is calling on Sudan’s warring parties, their allies, and influential states to use their leverage to ease the obstacles that are causing deaths and suffering.
