Our Summer Art and craft excursions for children serve as magical avenues for fostering creativity and self-expression. The Summer will be both a Riot of Colours, where young imaginations can flourish as they paint and blend various materials, resulting in vibrant masterpieces and also celebrating camouflage colours to imitate the wonders found in the natural world! Young artists to infuse joy into their creations using bright fabrics and sequins, crafting delightful pieces that radiate exuberance and or choose a theme that encourages outdoor explorations, helping children develop a deeper connection with the environment. Either way - This fabulous Summer of Art, invites children to delve into sun-themed crafts and techniques, celebrating the vibrancy and joy of summer! As with all our splendid Summer Art Camps, we commence the week with delightful artistry in a beautifully crafted sketchbook. This is a true odyssey through pages adorned with vibrant paintings, intricate decorations, whimsical drawings, and captivating collages. In the vast realms of our imagination, we embark on a journey across oceans and barrier reefs, We shall immerse ourselves in the creation of intricate or impressionistic drawings, depicting enchanting deep-sea creatures, the delicate flora of the ocean, and the shimmering seas awaiting exploration, conjuring a thrilling artwork with a kaleidoscope of materials + techniques +++ What a magnificent beginning to our escapade on this first day! Join us for a marvelous day of creativity that sets the stage for our inaugural Summer Art Camp! Day 2: Clay Creations In this enchanting workshop, young adventurers will uncover the delight of sculpting with clay! Participants will embrace fundamental techniques, including coiling and pinch pot methods, to shape their own one-of-a-kind starfish and octopus-inspired pots. The coiling technique allows children to roll and shape long strands of clay, layering them to create unique forms that mimic the fluid shapes of ocean creatures. Meanwhile, the pinch pot method provides a hands-on approach, inviting kids to mould the clay by pinching and shaping it into delightful pots. Crafted for all skill levels, this experience encourages children to unleash their creativity and explore their artistic potential. Each participant will leave with their very own ocean-themed clay treasures, celebrating their individuality and imagination. Join us for a fun-filled day of creativity and exploration in the magical world of clay! Day 3: Under the Shimmering Seas: Magic on Canvas: Unleash the boundless realms of imagination in this exhilarating mixed media workshop! Young creators will embark on a journey to blend diverse materials, crafting one-of-a-kind masterpieces. They shall discover enchanting techniques such as collage and layering, harnessing the magic of paper, fabric, and found sea treasures. We will plunge into an under-the-water theme, where children can envision vibrant coral reefs, whimsical sea creatures, and the mysteries of the deep blue sea. Children will be encouraged to gather materials that evoke the aquatic world—shimmering fabric to represent fish scales, textured papers for ocean waves, and even recycled items to mimic treasures from a sunken ship. On canvas day, children will collaborate on a group art work, large scale artwork This workshop offers a splendid opportunity for children to delight in playful experiments with textures and hues, all while conjuring their very own artistic wonders inspired by the enchanting depths of the ocean. Let their creativity swim freely as they dive into this imaginative experience! Day 4: Art + Literature: Jules Vern’s 2000 league's under the sea: In this mixed media project inspired by the story of Jules Vern’s 2000 league's under the sea, envision an enchanting underwater realm filled with vibrant marine life and whimsical elements inspired by the book and contemporary, Victoriana, imagery like Captain Nemo's submarine, the Nautilus and elements of steampunk design. Children will combine diverse art techniques like drawing, painting, and printmaking, glueing + Sticking, finishing metallic elements to create an oceanic effect, capturing the underwater essence and spirit of adventure in Captain Memo's story. Dive into the enchanting depths of the ocean with our hands-on workshop, where young artists will create vibrant ocean-inspired sculptures using recycled materials. This eco-friendly art session encourages creativity and environmental awareness as children transform everyday items into magnificent sea creatures, squid, Children will explore the use of recycled materials such as cardboard, fabrics, and other found objects to construct sculptures inspired by the ocean. With the addition of bright acrylic paints, these creations will come to life in a burst of colour and imagination. On canvas day, children will collaborate on a group art work, large scale artwork Mini Projects may be fitted in and around the Art Days! Excursions + walks after lunch (weather dependant) Our mini-artists will create + build confidence + dexterity in a place for artists to sparkle + shine + showcase their success in the heart of our maker space!
