Shuili Snakekiln Commercial Space Design

| 商業空間作品 | 水里蛇窯 Shuili Snakekiln 水里蛇窯為台灣南投知名文化景點，以台灣現存最古老且巨大的傳統柴燒窯為著名。此次設計展售區與藝廊區兩館，藉由將蛇窯的精神與意義藉由此兩館呈現於園區參觀民眾。 展售區： 整體風格以原始窯場的侘寂風格呈現，融和現代元素下去進行動線與設計規劃。從立體雕塑主牆面呈現陶土的原自然樣貌、從開採到製土到拉胚窯燒的過程，進而完成出一件一件的藝術品。 整體建築採大面積開窗，我們覺得自然光是產品呈現的最好方式，所以我們讓自然光引進整體空間環境，讓作品樣貌更為純粹自然，搭配天窗的設計，陽光從早晨至傍晚在空間內呈現不同的樣貌。 延伸上去二樓的展售區域的過渡空間，我們採用階梯弧形的樓梯踏階，一步步走向另一個空間區域，同時也讓旅客可以坐在踏階上沉浸環境光線的變化與靜心休憩的時光。 二樓展示空間的展示機能也能依據不同季節與檔期活動進行調整與擺設，在這個展售空間內，一切皆有可能。 藝廊區： 藝廊區的整體空間狹長且扭曲，所以我們希望在此把蛇窯的意象帶入此區， 從入口開始、展現出窯洞狹小的氛圍，由窄入寬進而走入寬廣無限想像的創作展示空間，讓民眾對於作品藝術創作留有多的沉靜思考畫面，藝廊空間同樣採用天窗的作法，讓自然光引進，使展覽作品與空間在不同的時間有不同樣貌的光線角度呈現，空間內保留原建築結構的框架，沿襲歷史的傳承，再由寬入窄走入到園區內其他的功能區域。 Traditional Wood-Fired Kiln Cultural Park — Revitalizing a Historic Landmark in Nantou, Taiwan Located in Nantou, Taiwan, this traditional wood-fired kiln cultural park is a renowned cultural destination, home to the oldest and largest existing wood-fired kiln in the country. Through the renovation of the Gift Shop and the Gallery Hall, this project seeks to embody and express the spirit and significance of the kiln to visitors, reinterpreting tradition through contemporary design. Gift Shop- The design draws inspiration from the original kiln site's wabi-sabi aesthetic—embracing natural imperfections and rustic beauty—while integrating modern spatial planning and design elements. A sculptural feature wall captures the raw and organic essence of clay, visually narrating its transformation from raw earth through extraction, refinement, throwing, and firing, ultimately becoming unique works of art. The architecture emphasizes openness, incorporating large windows to bring natural light into the space. We believe natural light is the most authentic medium for showcasing handcrafted pieces. Skylights are used strategically, allowing sunlight to flow in from morning to dusk, casting ever-changing patterns and moods throughout the day. A curved staircase leads visitors to the upper level of the exhibition space, creating a soft transition between floors. These steps also serve as informal seating areas, inviting guests to pause, observe the shifting light, and immerse themselves in moments of calm. The second-floor display area is designed with flexibility in mind. It can be reconfigured to accommodate seasonal themes or special events, offering endless possibilities for curating exhibitions and enhancing visitor experiences. Gallery Hall- The gallery is housed in a long, winding space—an architectural condition that inspired the integration of the Snake Kiln's symbolic imagery. Beginning at the entrance, the design intentionally conveys the narrow, cave-like atmosphere of a kiln tunnel. Visitors are guided from a tight, intimate space into a broader, expansive exhibition hall that evokes a sense of infinite creativity and imaginative freedom. Natural light again plays a key role. Skylights allow light to enter the space at various angles throughout the day, creating a dynamic interplay between artworks, architecture, and time. The gallery preserves the original building’s structural framework, paying homage to the site’s historical legacy. As visitors exit, the space gradually narrows once more, guiding them toward other functional areas within the cultural park. This design is not only a spatial transformation but a cultural narration—bringing the story of the kiln, its craft, and its legacy into a dialogue with the present.
