We’ve all seen the ads - there’s a picture of a half-dead plant, then someone ‘scans’ it with their phone and the app says to fertilize, or re-pot, or water, or give it a banana or some nonsense. Then it shows you another picture and says “A few days later…” The second picture shows the same plant in perfect health. You already know how these ads are created. The advertising team buys a healthy plant, photographs it, then leaves it in direct sun outside. Or they put it in a closet and let it die for a month or two without water or light. THEN they take pictures, create their ad, and pretend the timeline was reversed. About 99% of these ads are flat WRONG, too. The diagnosis is entirely off. They’ll show a plant that’s firing leaves (a common drought response) and say it has fertilizer burn, or sunburn. So here’s the deal: better information is out there. And it’s completely free.
