The Westfield Downtown Live! Friday Night Summer Concert Series is back for Week 4 of the 8-week series with the Bad News Jazz & Blues Orchestra. Launched by ArtWorks Westfield in the summer of 2018 in the cozy confines of the performance space adjacent to Mina's Wine & Spirits, this downtown Westfield eight-week summer concert series tradition continues for its 7th season, and second season at the Elm Street Plaza in the heart of the new Downtown Westfield Cultural District. These FREE community musical experiences happens each Friday evening from 7-9pm from June 20th to August 15th with several rain dates built into the mix. Beverages served up by White Lion Brewing Company and Tribeca Gastro Bar & Grille will be available for purchase at each performance. Five of the eight bands in the 2025 line-up are making their Downtown Live! Concert Series debuts … the diversity of the musical mix offers something for everyone! Week 4 of the 2025 Downtown Live! Friday Night Summer Concert Series takes place on Friday July 18th with the return, for the third consecutive year, of the Bad News Jazz & Blues Orchestra to the Westfield Bank Stage at the Elm Street Plaza in downtown Westfield. This concert series is FREE to the community to attend! The performance space opens at 6:00pm, White Lion Brewery and Tribeca Gastro Bar & Grille open at 6:30pm, and the show begins at 7:00pm. Lots of FREE parking! Bring a lawn chair, picnic blanket and your dancing shoes! Yes there will be dancing!! Bringing alcohol into the performance space is strictly prohibited. RIDE YOUR BIKE! You can ride your bike to the show! The Friends of the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail, Inc. offer a FREE Bike Valet service at each show. Take the Columbia Greenway Trail Rail to each show using the three different downtown exits to the Elm Street Plaza, valet your bike and enjoy the show. ABOUT THE BAD NEWS JAZZ & BLUES ORCHESTRA: The Bad News Jazz and Blues Orchestra is a 19 piece “Jump, Jive and Wail” big band that carries on the excitement of the big band era by performing music of contemporary artists such as the Brian Setzer Big Band, Michael Buble`, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Bruno Mars, Flying Neutrinos, Average White Band, Tower of Power and many others. The BNJBO has developed a repertoire that mixes the swing music of the 30s & 40s with the Jump, Jive and Wail music of today. Audience members at one moment may hear the famous Sing, Sing, Sing drum solo of Gene Krupa, followed by a driving arrangement of Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen, Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York and then Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk. Founded in 2012 by Jeff Gavioli, the orchestra emerged after a chance sit-in performance and a subsequent collaboration with local musicians. The group quickly established itself with its first performance at the Florence Music on the Porch Series in 2013 and has since played extensively throughout the Pioneer Valley and beyond! The band is composed of music educators, professional performers, and dedicated hobbyists, contributing to the highly cohesive and energetic sound. The band made their ArtWorks Westfield Downtown Live! Concert Series debut in August 2023, returned to Elm Street Plaza in 2024 and bring their high energy and kinetic audience engagement back to downtown Westfield for their unprecedented third consecutive appearance in the summer concert series. Band leader Jeff Gavioli is a Westfield native, WHS class of 2002, and loves to bring the big band back to his hometown! Based out of Northampton, MA, the BNJBO has been nominated and voted Winner in the category of 'BEST LIVE JAZZ' in the Hampshire Gazette's2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021 Reader's Polls after being voted as finalist in the 2020 Reader’s Poll. ### Downtown Live!
