“The ODH program provide a wealth of information and an enlightened perspective on horse training in a kind way where horse welfare is always first and foremost. Hi, I’m Tanya and this is Maverick. Maverick is a 2 year-old Australian WB gelding by imported Hanoverian stallion, Christos. After Maverick’s arrival as a yearling colt 14 months ago, I discovered Gabi on Facebook while searching for horse training videos. I purchased Gabi’s book "Understanding Is the Key" and keenly watched every episode of Hayley’s Personality Based Colt Start documentary when Gabi rolled it out late last year. From there I became a member of ODH. The ODH program provides a wealth of information and an enlightened perspective on horse training in a kind way where horse welfare is always first and foremost. As I’ve grown to know Maverick, I’ve discovered his unique personality to be mostly extroverted and confident, which I’ve found quite the challenge at times, that has questioned my confidence and knowledge. With Gabi‘s help, I’ve learnt to connect with him and keep sessions short and positive. My biggest learning with ODH is to slow down, allow Maverick to process what I’m asking and allow sufficient time for him to respond (most importantly the lick and chew!). I love the format, and although I have only attempted some of the monthly lessons and challenges Gabi provided in 2023, I shall be setting some goals in 2024 to complete more of these. The best part of the ODH program, there is a wealth of information provided that you can access at any time convenient for you or pick up where you left off for any of the training documentaries. I have also reached out to Gabi directly and she has always replied promptly with her positive and sound advice. It was also encouraging to watch the ODH community’s video posts on their attempts at the challenges. Unfortunately due to the time difference in Australia, I am unable to attend the monthly live Q&A, however, the recordings allow me to watch the replay that answered both my questions and others I hadn’t thought of.
