Clifton Residence: Ocean-Inspired Bathroom Design

• Clifton Residence • Ocean-Inspired Walls – few landscapes capture the essence of Cape Town quite like the dramatic waves of the Atlantic Ocean, crashing against its striking beaches. This untamed beauty became the narrative behind one of our recently completed Clifton Residences, nowhere more so than in the master bathroom, where an extraordinary marble feature wall takes centre stage. Originally, our vision for this space featured a soft white Carrara marble as the backdrop to a bold, sculptural vanity. But during a sourcing trip to Italy, we stumbled upon a breathtaking slab in the stone yards, one that felt destined for this room. Its organic veining and dynamic movement echoed the ocean’s rhythm, bringing the home’s natural surroundings into its interior. Framed by floor-to-ceiling glass with uninterrupted views over Clifton 4th Beach, the marble wall mirrors the sea. To balance its presence, we designed a series of custom elements: solid carved Bianco Neve basins, statement bronze taps, a bespoke fluted vanity, and a chunky Fossil Black marble top, each piece adding depth and contrast against the room’s serene blue walls. Completing the space are our ‘Hashira’ wall lights by @audocph introducing a soft, atmospheric layer, counteracting the otherwise hard finishes.
