Programs like the new Cherokee Nation Public Health’s Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, which provide eligible Cherokee citizens aged 55 and older with $100 to spend on fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, honey, and more at participating farmers markets. 🔗 To learn more, visit: https://anadisgoi.com/index.php/government-stories/cherokee-nation-to-provide-cherokee-elders-with-farmers-market-funds Additionally, families participating in WIC can benefit from the Cherokee Nation WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program, which provides $50 in vouchers to use at markets for fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables. The Oklahoma Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) also supports seniors statewide, offering $50 in benefits to those aged 60+ to purchase local produce. Or programs like Double Up Oklahoma (DUO), where shoppers using SNAP/EBT at participating markets and grocery stores can receive up to $20 in matching funds to spend on fruits and vegetables. DUO is a program of Hunger Free Oklahoma These programs were highlighted at the Day of Health at Muskogee Farmers' Market this past weekend. This event brought together health, wellness, and community resources.
