What does speech therapy look like? Is my child “ready” for speech therapy? Will my child be able to “participate” in speech therapy? Will my child “benefit” from speech therapy? Believe it or not, these are not uncommon questions! 🤯 Many people are skeptical about the unknown, but Speechie in Spokane is here to provide you with some reassurance and the answers you’ve been looking for. 👀 Here are a few things I tell parents who have asked these questions: 1. Speech therapy should be FUN, and activities used in sessions should be intrinsically motivating to each child. 🫧🚙🎶 @sensory.slp 2. Speech therapy sessions and treatment plans should be tailored to each child’s individual needs, and it is our job as therapists to ensure our time spent together is focused on having fun and building strong connections. If you don’t think your child is “ready” for speech therapy, I like to then ask “why not?” 🤔 3.
