The thick yellow toenails started with him. Then I got it. I thought I was going to say good-bye to my open-toed sandals for the Summer. I was wrong. Something so simple lets my toes see the light of day again. It all started last Fall when Jack started getting thick yellow toenails. I thought it was a “him” problem, but it turned out to be my problem too. It isn’t what I wanted him to share with me. What they don’t say is that toenail fungus can transfer from person to person. Something I found out the hard way. When I went to the beach with my granddaughter and took off my shoes, she yelled “Grandma! What’s wrong with your feet?” I was mortified as everyone started to stare and whisper amongst themselves. The rest of the time I sat there with my feet buried in the sand trying to hide them. I didn’t get to play with my granddaughter like I wanted and ended up cutting the beach outing short so I could get out of there. While at my annual checkup with my doctor, I mentioned my feet. The option he gave me was an oral medication and I was going to have to have bloodwork to check my liver enzymes. That didn’t sound good and not something I wanted to try. Later when I went to see my granddaughter (who had already told everyone about my feet), a neighbor who was visiting said she had the same issue last year. She didn’t want to take medication either so she did some research and came across a simpler way. When I leaned over to look at her feet, her toenails looked great. When I said it didn’t look like she had any problems, she said “I don’t anymore.” She wrote down her recipe on a piece of paper and gave me the web link so I could look at it myself. Fast forward to today, both Jack’s and my toenails are clean and clear. I wouldn’t have believed it if we hadn’t tried it.
