Brazil Sugar Exports Surge

(EN) Brazil occupies one of the leading positions on the list of the largest world exporters of sugar. In this context, it is important to note that the evolution of the sales of this product overseas has registered a remarkable increase. The trend has been positive to such an extent that, according to Forbes magazine, the country will be responsible for about 50% of the global trade of this product in 2023/2024. According to estimates, the value of exports should attain 32.2 million tonnes in this period. Reiterating the notion that this year will be historic regarding overseas sugar sales, exports of sugars and molasses registered a growth of over 200% in February 2024, on a like-for-like basis, according to data published by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil.
