Tickets are now on sale for the Tulsa World’s All-World Awards, presented by Bill Knight Automotive, which celebrates the best in local high school sports. New this year: The awards ceremony will happen at ONEOK Field, home of the Tulsa Drillers. All the finalists and winners will be honored before the game in front of the crowd. The All-World Awards is just one of the events the Tulsa World works on for the community. We work hard to cover high school sports like no one else and this event allows us to highlight athletes, coaches and fans on a night unlike any other. The event on Thursday, June 19, starts at 4:30 p.m. when gates open. The ceremony starts at 5 p.m. At 6:15 p.m., the All-World finalists and winners will line up and then parade out to the field. The Lifetime Achievement Award winner will throw out the first pitch. Those with All-World tickets will then enjoy a buffet for dinner. Athletes/players of the year will be honored from finalists already announced in football, volleyball, softball, cross country, basketball, wrestling and swimming. Finalists for baseball, golf, soccer, tennis and track and field will be announced right before the event. Winners also will be announced for other awards that honor the top overall athletes of the year, scholar athletes of the year, and coaches of the year. Specialty awards include Comeback Athlete of the Year, the Mike Brown Inspirational Athlete of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award. All-World nomination forms in each sport are emailed to metro coaches. Schools within 60 miles of downtown Tulsa or any school within 75 miles of downtown in a town with a population larger than 5,000 are considered metro-area schools.
