In light of the recently passed National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada, I wanted to share this film. I want to clarify that I'm indigenous, I am also a faithful practicing Catholic and a Knight of Columbus. I think that evil exists in all areas of the world and at times most prominently in the places where it would be least expected. I think that is what this is and why it has been such a controversy for many. The decisions that were made in harm against the indigenous peoples have never fully addressed (bodies are still being found) , but nonetheless we who are currently descendants inside and outside of the church have the opportunity to bridge that gap and to develop accountability and responsibility for the care and consideration of the children inside and outside of the church. It is our responsibility to review and learn from past decisions and situations to help forge a path forward of love and compassion in line of Christ's teachings.
