Join us August 1–31, 2025, to help care for our beloved New River—one of the oldest rivers in the world! ✅ What’s happening: 📌Aug 2, 9 AM at the Independence Boat Launch: First Clean-up of the Month hosted by the New River Conservancy. Multiple drop-in clean-ups along the riverbanks and tributaries to follow throughout August—keep an eye out for posts about each one! 🌿 Why it matters: We’re kicking off our 5th annual Clean River Month in Grayson County—building on past efforts to remove trash, tires, and storm debris from the New River! The scars from Hurricane Helene (Fall 2024) mean this year’s work is especially crucial. 🌟 How you can help & become a New River Protector: Grab a river-cleaning bag at any public Grayson County boat launch & collect trash during your next paddle. Bags will be available for river trash throughout August. Volunteer for organized clean-ups throughout August, all listed on our website! Bring family & friends—a great opportunity for kids to learn environmental stewardship.
