Waking up to a glowing review from The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary feels like a WOW moment! We’re really honored to partner with them. To give some context to the t-shirts: On November 6, 2024, the Brook Waimārama Sanctuary made history by welcoming 56 tuatara to their new home in a 3.7-hectare, mouse-free enclosure. These ancient reptiles were accompanied by representatives from Ngāti Koata, the kaitiaki of the Tuatara from Takapourewa/Stephens Island. Why is this so important? Well, tuatara—like many of New Zealand’s native creatures—are threatened by habitat loss and introduced predators. They had been extinct on the mainland, with the last populations confined to just 32 offshore islands. Until now! The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary has become the first sanctuary to release tuatara back into the wild in a safe, predator-free environment, and we couldn’t be more excited to be part of this amazing journey.
