After reading about the history of superheroes and their design, students will create their own superhero or villain based on a national park. They’ll get to choose whether to present them as a hero or villain, and they’ll create a whole profile for their character including a name, origin story, powers & abilities, suit, accessories, arch nemesis, and more. There are directions, graphic organizers, examples, and a list of guiding questions to help them at every step along the way. This activity is interactive and fun while also requiring critical thinking as students justify their design choices based on what they know about their national park and the history, culture, plants, animals, and other environmental features it protects.
