💧🫶🏾 We need to make one of the biggest decisions in our history, and we need your input. 🤷🏽 What's happening? We’re deciding how to deliver drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater services (‘Three Waters’) in the future. 🚰🕳🚽 It’s not just about taps, drains, or flushing the loo, it’s about keeping services safe, reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible for generations to come. 🤷🏽 Why now? The Government’s new 'Local Water Done Well' legislation replaces the old 'Three Waters Reform'. Every council must develop a Water Services Delivery Plan that outlines their future water services delivery approach and how they'll meet stricter quality, infrastructure and financial sustainability standards by 2028. 🤷🏽 What are our options? 📊📑 Over the past few months we've examined what’s needed to meet both the legislative requirements and the needs of our district. After careful consideration, we've shortlisted two future delivery models. They are: 1️⃣ A Multi-Council-Controlled-Organisation (Multi-CCO) – 👍🏽 Our PREFERRED option. We’d partner with other neighbouring councils to form a new, jointly owned entity, sharing resources and costs. 2️⃣ A Standalone Business Unit – Our ALTERNATIVE option. Water services would stay in-house under Council, but with a dedicated team and structure. 🚿 Water services may be out of sight, but they impact every one of us. 💬 This decision isn’t ours alone.
