ALICE Awareness Campaign

In Cullman and Winston Counties, ALICE is all around us. You see it every day — at the grocery store, in the school pickup line, at church, or behind the counter at your favorite restaurant. You may even be ALICE. Or your neighbor, your friend, your family member may be.💙 ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households work hard, often in jobs that keep our communities running — yet still don’t earn enough to cover the basics. In Alabama, 46% of households are ALICE. That’s 2 in 4 households in every community facing impossible choices — food or medicine, rent or child care. These are not isolated situations. Two-thirds of the most common jobs in Alabama pay less than $20 an hour (or $40,000 a year, if full time). It’s simply not enough to keep up with the cost of living. In Cullman and Winston Counties, we see the need up close. We hear the stories. We know the struggle is real.
