Praise Him in the storm. We love to sing it, right? But good grief, it’s hard to do. 😩 Storms come in all different shapes and sizes. Sometimes there’s a gradual build up, and we can feel or see them coming a mile away. Sometimes they happen all at once and shock us. Sometimes we’re caught off guard because even though we saw the storm coming, we didn’t realize how intense it was gonna be. There’s one thing we can always do in a storm – and that’s praise God for everything. That always sounds so easy when it’s in a song or on a meme. The storms of life seem to have the ability of drawing our attention onto our circumstances. But if we lift our heads up from our circumstances and praise and worship our Heavenly Father, it changes our whole focus. Is it hard? YES. In the storm we don’t feel like praising God, I’ll just go ahead say it! 🤷‍♂️ It can sometimes feel like we’re struggling just to keep our head above water and breathe. The last thing we feel like doing is saying thank you for this terrible situation. Sooo… What can we do to switch gears into “praise Him in the storm” mode? I have always found my favorite book in the whole Bible, the Psalms, helpful for any situation… but especially in the storms, because many of them were written by people also experiencing storms too. Here are a few: When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. Psalm 94:19 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. Psalm 34:18-19 You are my refuge and shield; your word is my source of hope. Psalm 119:114 Praise the Lord, praise God our Saviour! For each day He carries us in His arms. Psalm 68:19 When we worship in the midst of the storm, we remind ourselves that we are not alone. The truth of God’s Word speaks light, hope and life to our soul:)
