Field Supervisor in our Darwin Power Services team by day... volunteer firefighter by night (or whenever they need him!) - meet Richard Baldock! We're celebrating the volunteers in our team on International Volunteer Day. Richard has been a volunteer firefighter for 8 years, and is based at the Berry Springs Volunteer Bushfire Brigade. 'I became a volunteer firefighter as my wife is on the committee and my father-in-law was Captain at the time,' Richard says. 'I saw how busy it was and wanted to share the load with the other volunteers, to keep our community safe. There is no set commitment, apart from the initial 2-day training course, so it's flexible, and the feeling you get from giving back is well worth the hours you put in. I'd recommend volunteering to anyone.' A highlight for Richard at this time of year is taking part in the Santa Fun Run.
