And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. Revelation 8:10-11
Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:13-14
These verses represent two different ways that God can deal with us. One represents life and the other represents death. We choose how this will play out. God’s choice is made clear in His Word. Ezekiel 18:23 says this, “Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?”
The death that we are talking about is eternal separation from God. Revelation 21:8 calls this the second death. “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
In Luke Chapter 16:22-26 we find Jesus telling a story about two men who died. One went to Heaven (Abraham's Bosom) and the other went to Hell. “ And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.” Notice the impassable gulf between the two places. In God’s presence is fullness of joy. “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 16:11 On the other hand: “And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 25:30 The choice is yours. Jesus became a man, suffered, died, and was buried to take away our sins so that we could have everlasting life. Call out to Him today. Tomorrow may never come. God loves you and wants to spend eternity with you. It is written that all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Today is your day. Reach out to Jesus. Admit that you have sinned and ask Him to forgive you and help you to live differently. If you have chosen to take this, the most important step of your life, let everyone know. Type the name “Jesus” in the comments below. He died for you publically, confess Him publicly. Jesus loves you and so do we!
