Please join us in welcoming Michael Amalfitano, D.O., to Mercy Health – The Heart Institute, Willard! Dr. Amalfitano comes from a long line of physicians, with his father, most of his uncles and his brother and sister working in medicine. Inspired by his family's commitment to health care, he pursued a career in medicine. He discovered his passion for heart care during medical school rotations, where exceptional mentors guided him. Throughout his career, Dr. Amalfitano has played an instrumental role in advancing cardiac care. He helped establish heart programs in Mansfield and Medina for the Cleveland Clinic, ultimately becoming the Section Head of the Cleveland Clinic South Region and the Director of the Nuclear Cardiology regional program. Dr. Amalfitano finds the most rewarding part of his work to be helping patients who have struggled to find answers elsewhere. Many of his patients seek him out after seeing multiple cardiologists without improvement. He takes great pride in providing them with the care and expertise needed to improve their quality of life. He is committed to delivering compassionate, empathetic care, treating each patient as he would his own family. He emphasizes the importance of a strong provider-patient partnership, ensuring his patients fully understand their diagnosis and treatment options. Outside of medicine, Dr. Amalfitano enjoys spending time with his family and staying active. He has a passion for tennis, skiing, and even taking on the challenges of Tough Mudder races.
