Among Us
As luck would have it, I had an unplanned visit to the dentist this week. Not the gift I was expecting! However, while I was waiting, I met a wonderful woman from 911. She said, “Excuse me, can I ask an intrusive question? Are you the guy that runs the LCSO Facebook page?” Yep, that’s me. It was a great conversation, and then I had to go to the back. I am sure many of you know what happens in the chair, in the back! I could not feel my mouth, nose, or ears for a few hours. More importantly, I would be remiss in not giving a huge shout-out to all of our 911 dispatchers and call-takers during the holidays. Thank you for following the page. More importantly, quickly assessing situations, providing critical information, and coordinating resources that make a significant difference in saving lives and effectively managing crises. THANK YOU
This week, I was impressed by the artistry of a Christmas tree made out of paper in our dorm. I was asked if the guys could create something beyond Star Wars, and I encouraged them to go for it. They constructed an impressive tree using notebook paper. I am looking forward to challenging these men and women more within the new year. Working with our case managers, we will be developing programming and activities that work to engage those incarcerated in the jail. Additionally, we upgraded our Christmas decorations in the jail, thanks to Deputy Priscilla Fletcher.
We want to congratulate Lieutenant Javier Martinez's son, Hensley, on graduating from the D.A.R.E. program this week. He was chosen to speak to his class about his overall experience and thoughts on what he had learned. Hensley told his entire class, “My top three favorite D.A.R.E. lessons I learned were about alcohol use, vaping, and stress.” DARE is crucial for our youth as it equips them with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about substance use and mental health. By addressing contemporary issues like vaping and stress management, it fosters a culture of healthy living and resilience among young people. Congrats to Hensley and his class!
Finally, this is the last day to vote! If you could please take the time to vote for the Best of 2024 Social Media and Police Officer, we would appreciate it. Thank you in advance!!!
