Films That Move – July 2025 Edition Theme: Dealing With Trauma From Violence A Bold Celebration of Caribbean & African Cinema, Mental Health, and Stories That Matter Films That Move is back this July for another unforgettable edition – and this time, we’re tackling a theme that hits hard and speaks deep: Dealing With Trauma From Violence. We’re calling on visionary filmmakers from across the globe to submit short films (30 minutes or less) that explore the many faces of trauma caused by violence – personal, social, generational, or systemic. Whether your film is rooted in fiction, documentary, animation, or experimental storytelling, if it sheds light on the journey through pain and toward healing, we want to see it. Why Submit to Films That Move? • Big Screen Moment: Your film will be screened at Palace Cineplex, one of Jamaica’s most iconic movie theaters, in front of a packed and passionate audience. • Powerful Conversations: Each screening is paired with thoughtful panel discussions led by mental health experts, activists, and creatives. • Social Impact: Films That Move was built to spark real dialogue. Your work becomes part of a movement challenging stigma and creating space for stories that need to be heard. • Community of Creatives: Join an international network of filmmakers, changemakers, and mental health advocates using art as a tool for transformation.
