🐴 A Wonderful Day at the American Quarter Horse Museum! 🐎 Our preschoolers had a blessed and exciting adventure on our field trip to the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum! With wide eyes and joyful hearts, the children learned about God’s amazing creation—horses! 🐾 They saw beautiful horse exhibits, heard fun stories about life on the ranch, and even got to walk through galleries filled with history and Western heritage. It was a day full of wonder, learning, and thankfulness for all the ways God provides animals to help and inspire us. 🌾✝️ A big thank-you to the museum team for sharing their time and kindness with us! 🙏 "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!" – Psalm 150:6

【 Learning curve accelerated: A one-day company visit】 In the spirit of connecting students with the industry and providing them with the opportunities to explore future career paths, Career Development and Training team organised a one-day company visit to Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP) for our master students last month. The day started with a visit to the HKSTP Experience Centre, followed by exclusive access to Hong Kong Quantum AI Lab, MGI Tech, and SenseTime. Through visiting the I&T hub and being exposed to the vibrant start-up ecosystem at HKSTP, our students were able to experience the future of technology up-close, gain ideas about real-world operations, and network with industry professionals. Students were captivated at the sharing sessions, where industry leaders shed light on innovation and entrepreneurship, frontier technologies and commercialisation, as well as the transformative role of AI on different fronts. The experience allowed students to see first-hand how knowledge acquired at school can be applied in a business context. Learning how the companies work toward innovative goals is truly inspirational, expanding our students’ understanding of their future career possibilities in cutting-edge fields. A Blend of Ecology and Economy: The Kurisumala Dairy Farm Experience Our students visited the Vagamon Kurisumala Indo-Swiss Dairy Farm Project as part of the "Gurukulam on River: Meenakshi Kaandam" initiative on December 19, 2024. This visit provided a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of sustainable agricultural innovation, organic farming, and economic self-sufficiency. Learning Outcome for Students: The visit offered students a first-hand understanding of how agricultural innovation, sustainability, and economic self-sufficiency can coexist. They learned about the transformative impact of organic farming practices, the role of hybrid cattle in enhancing productivity, and the significance of linking economic ventures to spiritual and ecological values. History of the Indo-Swiss Dairy Farm Project The Indo-Swiss Dairy Farm at Kurisumala was established in the early 1960s as a pioneering collaboration between Swiss agricultural experts and the monks of Kurisumala Ashramam. The project was initiated to enhance dairy farming practices in the region, integrating European expertise with Indian farming traditions. The farm began with the introduction of hybrid cows that were selectively bred for higher milk production. These high-yielding cows marked a significant shift in the region's dairy farming, setting new standards for quality and efficiency. Over time, the farm transitioned to organic farming practices, reflecting the monks’ commitment to environmental sustainability and natural living. Geography of Kurisumala Dairy Farm Located on the serene slopes of Vagamon, the Kurisumala farm spans rolling meadows and fertile grasslands. The favorable altitude and cool climate create an ideal environment for cattle rearing. The farm is surrounded by lush greenery, with natural water sources fed by the tributaries of the Meenachil River, ensuring a sustainable supply for the cattle and agricultural activities. Anthropology and Social Significance The dairy farm is an integral part of the Kurisumala Ashramam community. Managed by the monks, the farm reflects their philosophy of self-reliance, simplicity, and ecological harmony. The hybrid cows produce organic Kurisumala milk, which is consumed across Kottayam district. This organic milk is valued for its purity and quality, contributing to the health and well-being of the local population. The income generated from the dairy farm sustains the economic needs of Kurisumala Ashramam, supporting its spiritual, social, and ecological endeavors. This model showcases how agricultural innovation can serve as a cornerstone for community development, combining economic viability with ethical farming practices.
