Exciting conservation
Celebrate World Wetland Day at Matuku Link on 1st February 2025 – Tāmaki Makaurau’s largest mainland wetland!
This exciting event features two free family activities every hour, including guided tours on bugs, birds, eels, and plants. Explore the wetlands and keep an eye out for the local pāteke (brown teal), pūweto (spotless crake), and the secretive matuku-hūrepo (Australasian bittern).
Join us for a day of fun as we celebrate biodiversity with games, the opportunity to explore our beautiful wetlands, and discover the vital conservation work restoring these precious habitats.
Enjoy an all-day market with food, arts, crafts, and entertainment, plus stalls from local conservation groups Like Auckland Zoo, Entomological Society and Birds New Zealand and many more.
Indulge in our BBQ (vegan and non-vegan options), fresh coffee, and delicious homemade treats, all while supporting a low-waste event with composting and recycling.
Activities are free and family-friendly! Don’t miss out on this inspiring day of learning, fun, and community.
