For over 50 years, the watershed on our farm, which flows directly into the San Luis Rey River, has been used as an illegal dump site. We have already removed over six massive industrial dumpsters full of trash, and there is easily 30 more to go. Even now, people continue to dump (washing machines, refrigerators, mattresses, tires, concrete, Mountain Dew bottles, even a full basketball hoop). It is disheartening, but we are not giving up. Our dream is to fully restore this precious watershed and create a native plant and tree hiking trail that educates and inspires. As we work to raise funds for fencing, lighting, and cameras to stop the dumping for good, we designed this sign to speak to the hearts and hopefully humor of would-be dumpers. We are putting up three along the road, praying they make an impact🙏🏽
