Fast disruption
Things you don’t want to discover on a routine check: a void. Especially one that is six metres long.
But that’s exactly we what did find this morning around a water main near the Red Lion.
Given the sheer scale of the void - almost the same length as the shark in Jaws - we need to get in and get it fixed. Fast.
The leak was sorted this morning by removing the old clamp and installing a more-heavy duty one, that covers a bigger proportion of the pipe and will prevent this from happening again (which you can see in the picture).
Now, it’s the void to fill. To get that done, from 9.30am tomorrow, traffic lights will be installed and will remain until at least the middle of next week. And given that it’s on an arterial route into town, it’s going to cause disruption.
We’ll do whatever we can to speed up the process, but for now, all we advise is to give extra time for your journey and use alternative routes where possible.
We will keep you updated.
Please tell anyone you know who uses the area that the works will be happening.
Thank you
