💜Mothers. 🥬Farmers. 💪Breadwinners. Women play a key role in feeding families, communities, and the world. Empowering women is supporting food security for all. Twice a week, market days bring a buzz of activity to aggregation centers across Cox’s Bazar. For women like Senowara, it’s more than a place to sell fresh produce—it’s a step towards independence. As the sole provider for her children and grandchildren, Senowara started farming through WFP’s livelihoods programme in 2021. Today, she grows papayas, raises hens, and sells her produce to local retailers—including those supplying WFP’s ‘fresh food corners’ in Rohingya refugee camps. In one of Bangladesh’s poorest and most disaster-prone districts, these markets are lifelines. They ensure women farmers earn a steady income while providing nutritious food to their communities. #Bangladesh has made remarkable economic progress in recent years, yet 37 million people still face acute food insecurity. It continues to host nearly 1 million Rohingya refugees who rely on humanitarian support to survive. For women like Senowara, their income means the difference between putting food on the table or skipping meals. 🌍WFP’s programmes support women by providing resources and training—empowering them to contribute to the economy, improve food security, and achieve self-sufficiency. If women farmers had the same access to productive resources as men, they could increase overall yields by 20 to 30 percent and total agricultural output by up to 4%—lifting 100 to 150 million people out of hunger. 📸 WFP/Samantha Reinders #IWD2025
