It’s been my on my wish list to run a Turkey Trot but I also host Thanksgiving in our family and never felt like I would have the time to do both.
But this year, I said 🤬 it, I’m doing both! Prepped food all day yesterday, and work up to cold, pouring, torrential rain.
My ideal race weather (weird, I know).
The race was new and I don’t think they had all the kinks worked out because it was a discombobulated start and only went left from there. I went out fast and felt everyone fall off me pretty quickly. All was well as I followed the lead vehicle but then it pulled off and left me to my own devices..
umm ok?
At a certain point I was running on the shoulder of a country road with cars flying by me and i actually STOPPED my watch to yell to the men behind me, “Is this the right way?????”
“I don’t know!” the one guy yelled back.
💭was i leading an entire 5k race the WRONG WAY?!
I unpaused my watch and picked it back up,
hoping for the best and once again saw the lead vehicle. Please don’t leave me this time, I thought.
We got to a part where the back of the pack runners were passing me and they all said things like, Good job! You got this! Congratulations.! 🎉🥳 Wow!!! a Des Linden day for sure😉
Not sure my actual time, not sure my actual pace, but all i know, is I finished first 🥇
Now time to switch from winner to host 🙄
